Constance Belle Mare Plage: the rebirth of an Eden
Constance Belle Mare Plage has unveiled its new face after a six-week makeover that was completed in July. This metamorphosis emphasises the authentic charms that have made this resort so successful for over 40 years. It gives, in one unique resort, so many different experiences in a chic yet relaxed atmosphere.
As the iconic property of Constance Hotels and Resorts, the Belle Mare Plage has remained true to its essence, keeping the natural elements – stone and wood – that have made the hotel a symbol of Mauritian hospitality. These have been rejuvenated with sophisticated designs and a new colour palette, so that the interiors suit the contemporary moods. The bedrooms, suites and villas have been re-vamped in a bold and chic style. The shape of the furniture, meticulously carved by the Mauritian craftsmen, embraces the dashing lines of the common areas. These are now more interconnected, following a thread of consistency throughout the hotel.
As a result, Constance Belle Mare Plage better immerses into the nature thereby emphasizing its splendid location – the curve of the 2km white sand beach, the tropical greenery, the caress of the sea breeze and the sweet melodies of the tide. All the elements are united to spoil guests.
The resort adds some spice to this natural flow of senses through its unique culinary spirit. The bars and restaurants have been reinvented with new concepts – both architectural and culinary. Next to Indigo restaurant, the new beach outlet, Blu Bar, is the trendy place at Constance Belle Plage where everyone will enjoy refreshing cocktails with feet in the sand. The gastronomic restaurant, Blue Penny Cellar, has been enriched with a sumptuous ‘gourmet cellar’ – the largest in the Indian Ocean – which contain over 1,300 different wines.
Already a jewel at its launch in 1994, the famous golf course, Legend, has also been polished. The pruning of bushes and the redrawing of holes 1, 2, 4, 9 and 18 – their fairways have been elevated – offer a new topography for a better overall view.
After hitting the ball, golfers have the chance to relax at the refurbished U Spa. With a new interior design it now has 6 single and 4 double treatment rooms, a hair salon and Brice Nicham’s renowned podiatric studio.
Mixing tradition and modernity, the hotel allies the blue lagoons with the green golf courses to provide a wide range of activities for both families and couples in a rejuvenated atmosphere. Indeed, Constance Belle Mare Plage remains the ideal destination for those looking to combine relaxation with sport, beach with golf and elegance with gastronomy.
Daringly different from other hotels in Mauritius, Constance Belle Mare Plage’s makeover gives way to a new era of luxury hospitality in the Indian Ocean.
Food and Beverage
Each restaurant has been redesigned to produce a conceptual, avant-garde experience, from the moment one step in and have the menu in hands. The Blu Bar’s cool blacks, whites and blues, a palette made for a refreshing experience by the sea. For a perfect chilled evening, on offer over 200 illustrious rums for a tasting session. The seaside restaurant, Indigo offers the finest selection of marine bounty, from lobsters to the freshest sushi. It also boasts a wide variety of culinary delights: South East Asian delicacies and even rustic pizzas. The beach side gourmet restaurant, La Spiaggia offers an array of creative preparations around the Mediterranean region. Guest can enjoy, the feet in the sand, gourmet sandwiches or a salads at Lakaze restaurant. Finally, Constance Belle Mare Plage’s Parisian-chic Blue Penny Cellar restaurant offers an exquisite range of wine: with over 15,000 bottles coming from over 1,300 wineries around the world. The Cellar is an experience no oenophile should miss, the wine complements the fine bistro-style cuisine of the restaurant.
The Legend Golf Course : An Icon Revamped
Designed by South African golf master Hugh Baiocchi, the Legend golf course opened in 1994. The 18-hole championship course has repeatedly hosted the very best international tournaments: the European Senior Tour has been held at the Legend for the past seven years, for instance, with superstar Colin Montgomerie at its helm.
After 22 years, it was time for an update, nothing drastic as the site has always been conscientiously maintained. The lakes, endemic plants and the beloved deer are still around, but the course has been landscaped to properly show them off. Holes 1, 2, 4, 9 and 18 have been remodeled, reshaped and raised. A new cutting-edge irrigation system is now in operation, the driving range is now sheltered, and the buildings surrounding the course have been renewed. The changing rooms as well as the Deer Hunt, the restaurant, and even the reception area, have been completely refurbished.
U Spa by Constance, Refined
Modern freshness is now the order of the day at the U Spa by Constance: black interiors are spruced up with touches of saffron, a blend of the ultra-modern with the traditional. The U Spa’s signature treatments have not changed, but they are now complemented with state of the art furnishings: from two additional rooms, to a larger wet area. The spa’s gym space now offers Technogym equipment.
The Constance Belle Mare Plage spa’s experience still incorporate only the very best, from therapists to exquisite products from Constance own U Spa product range to France’s luxurious Ymalia brand. The medical manicure and pedicure treatments are carried out by the team trained by Brice Nicham, the globally acclaimed podiatrist.
Constance’s U Spas epitomize the art of well-being and the tailored treatments make sure that the guest leave rested, rejuvenated, and replenished.
The New Presidential Villa
The old Presidential suite has been demolished and has now given way to Constance’s new treasure: a 852 m2 within the villas compound, five-bedroom, two swimming pools, beachfront and garden view masterpiece. It comes with everything one can think of. Private and personalised, the Presidential villa takes holidaymaking to a new level: everything can be accommodated within it, from meals to performances and shows. Naturally, guests are free to step outside and roam about the rest of the resort. A personal butler will make sure that each detail is meticulously planned out, whether the guest want to tour the island or enjoy a quiet morning massage.
